Stay fit, healthy and happy this Christmas with our top tips
Don’t sit down all day
You don’t need to watch every single Christmas special on the TV! Encourage the family to get out for a walk — ideally, after dinner to aid digestion.
Go easy on the booze
Mulled wine on Christmas Eve, Buck’s Fizz with breakfast, wine with dinner, Baileys, brandy… the list goes on! Keep tabs on how much you are drinking, and swap every other alcoholic drink for a soft one.
Don’t give yourself a Christmas stuffing!
We consume around 3000 calories in our Christmas dinner. This huge feast not only contributes to weight gain, but also to indigestion and heartburn. Instead, eat a normal-sized meal and then take a 20-minute break to see if you are still hungry.
Remember it’s the season to be jolly! Keep a sense of humour and proportion. Is it the end of the world if the carrots are overcooked or if your daughter hates her present? Remember, Christmas is just one day and isn’t worth stressing over.
Do something for others
Invite someone lonely into your home or help out with a Christmas fête or carol service. Doing good makes us feel good.
