My mantel clock stopped working, so my son Fenn, 11, decided to make me a new one. The clock face was made from a CD with numbers from an old computer keyboard stuck to it. He used an old computer chip as the base and added a clock mechanism in the centre to complete it. I was surprised and thrilled with my unique gift — it takes pride of place in my living room.
