There is nothing worse than soggy bird food — or that was the verdict from the feathered friends who visit my garden. So, to protect my feeders from the rain, I used an awl to make holes in an old plastic plate cover. Then, using a Stanley knife, I cut a slit joining them so they fitted perfectly over the original hangers on the feeder. Now the rainwater runs off the cover and protects the food below, which keeps the birds happy.
