Art Attack
An easy way to start painting with a toddler is to do mirror prints. I folded the paper in half to create a crease. After opening it out again, my son Jacob, two, put paint on one side of the paper in the shape of a butterfly wing before folding it over again. When we opened it out we had a really beautiful butterfly picture.

I wanted a cheap way to make a bird water feeder. So I washed out an old cola bottle and cut off the bottom. I punched two holes in the sides and threaded string through. After filling it with water, I hung it on my washing line. Now the feathered visitors to my garden have somewhere to stop for a drink.

Super space saver
Whenever I go away for a night or two, I always dispense my toiletries into little labelled tubs. It saves bringing whole bottles of shampoo and shower gel with you and saves loads of space in your suitcase. When you’re back, you just wash them out and they’re ready to use again next time you go away.

I recently went out with my son and mum and I forgot my little boy’s sun hat. We weren’t anywhere near a shop that might sell hats and didn’t want to come home. Mum had a brolly in the car, but as a make-do hat, I got one of his nappies out of the bag and popped it over his head, putting the back of the nappy at the front of his head to make a sun shield and using the sticky tabs to make it fit. I did get a few looks, but it did the trick. Good job he’s cute!

Perfect Planters5 of 6

Perfect planter
I wanted some new planters for my garden, but the decorative ones in the shops were so expensive. Instead I bought two plastic planters and used PVA glue to stick some tile stickers to them. I’m so pleased with how they turned out — and they were as cheap as chips!

I was redecorating my bathroom and wanted a nice picture to put up. But was worried that because of steam and condensation, I couldn’t use a picture made from paper or card. Then I saw this beautiful metal tray in a shop for just £4. So I bought and attached it to my wall with a sticky Velcro picture hanger. It looks lovely and won’t get ruined by a steamy room!
