Brainwaves weekly: Christmas crafts

Soft touch
When my Christmas tree began to look a bit tatty, I decided to give it some new, colourful decorations. Using some leftover wool, I made a colourful selection of pom-poms. Then I tied them on to the branches of my tree until it was covered and added an angel on top. My whole family loved it. Catherine Baxter, Bangor, Gwynedd

Feline festive
My cat Pixie loves to hide, so I thought I'd give her a Christmas spot to curl up in. I created a tee-pee shape from three pieces of cardboard cut into triangles, then cut a hole large enough for Pixie in one of them. Finally, I added some pom-poms, polystyrene snow and a star. Pixie loves her Christmas grotto. Emma Pratt, Waterlooville, Hants

No place like gnome
To put a smile on neighbours' faces, I decided to create a festive gnome. I took a metal frame I had for growing plants up and covered it in branches from fir trees and other foliage. After adding a Santa hat and some mittens, I gave him a potato nose and beard made from string. I think he looks very jolly!Anne Russell, Middlewich, Cheshire

Cosy Christmas
I wanted to combine my love of Christmas with my passion for knitting. So I popped to the shops and bought some wool in festive colours. Then, I knitted small stretches of yarn. Once I had lots of small strips, I sewed them together to form a wool chain. I'm really pleased with my home-made Christmas decorations. Valerie Jones, Letchworth, Herts
