Brainwaves weekly: DIY inspiration
Rising stars
Although my daughters Imogen, 12, and Esme, nine, and I were stuck at home during lockdown, our imaginations took us on an exciting journey to the moon. We used a cardboard box, paint and tinfoil to create our very own space rocket. The girls loved playing with it and even had a spaceship sleepover!Laura Fear, Castleford, W Yorks
Salad days
I wanted to create a nice garden for my rabbit Chase. I planted some coriander, parsley, mint, rosemary and thyme in a tub. Now, Chase has a delicious snack to munch on whenever he's hopping around the garden. Lisa Yates, Radcliffe, Gtr Manchester
Scissor trick!
As I seem to wear black leggings most of the time, they often end up with small holes. Whenever I spot a snag, I snip the label inside so I can see at a glance which pair I can wear out and which ones are only good for doing jobs around the house.Claire Cross, Caterham, Surrey
Blooming marvellous
I wanted to brighten up my garden with some art. I found some old pieces of wood and leftover paint. I cut the wood into squares and decorated them with colourful flowers. Then, I fastened them to a low timber wall to add a splash of colour before my garden blooms. Stuart Briggs, Bradford, W Yorks

When my husband Dave realised how much it would cost to have a small bar built at the bottom of our garden, he decided to have a go at making one himself. He sanded down and varnished some old wooden pallets we had lying around. Next, he nailed the pieces together to make a shelving unit with a fold-down front. He then attached the unit to our shed. Dave's ever so proud of his bar — and I am too! Jayne Bennion, Middleton, Gtr Manchester
For good measure
When I'm knitting, I like to make sure all my sleeves and the front panels of cardigans are exactly the same length. So, I keep the first one on the needles as I knit the next one. That way, I can get the measurements spot on.Vicky Gunther, Wimborne, Dorset
