Brainwaves weekly: easy crafts to do at home
Treasured Memories
I wanted to create a picture in memory of my parents Mary and Herbert. So I collected together some old treasures, including my mum's favourite fork, my sister's childhood glasses and some old jewellery. I glued it on to some card to create a tree of life. It's now framed and mounted on my wall to remind me of happy family memories.Gaynor Rowe, Buxton, Derbys
It’s a wrap
My girlfriend and I were decorating our bathroom, but we were worried about getting our towel radiator covered in paint. We couldn't take it down and it was too fiddly to cover it, using paper and masking tape. So, instead, we got a roll of clingfilm and wrapped it up in that. It kept it paint-free and saved us a lot of messing about.Robert Taylor, Chorley, Lancs
Ruff and Ready
Instead of throwing my old pouffe away, I decided to turn it into a bed for my dog. I turned the pouffe upside down, covered it with an old curtain, then put a comfy dog cushion inside it and my pup's favourite blanket. Not only does she love it, but it matches my décor perfectly, too. Stacy Chapman, Kingswinford, W Mids
Overall success
When my granddaughter Eliza grew out of her pull-on baby bib, I struggled to find a replacement in a bigger size. So I took the old one, cut off the sleeves and used the material to make a fastening at the top and another to go around the waist. I attached Velcro to the ends to make it easy to do up. It fits Eliza perfectly.Debbie Haigh, Apperley Bridge, W Yorks
A sprinkling of light
My mum Sally wanted a new garden feature, but they were proving to be too pricey. Instead, I took my nan's old watering can and hung it off a plant bracket attached to Mum's garden fence. Then, I added some fairy lights to the spout and wrapped them around a stake in the ground. It looks beautiful at night. Rebekah Humphries, Malvern, Worcs
Phone home
I like to keep my mobile phone on me, in case of emergencies. But lots of my clothes don't have pockets, so I made a phone pouch. I took an old glasses case and tied some bootlaces around the top to create a strap. My phone fits perfectly inside, and it's easy to carry around with me.Lesley Lea, Chardstock, Devon
