Brainwaves weekly: Valentine's Day gifts
Reddy for love
I decided to create a home-made present for my partner Russ. From around the house, I gathered red beads and embellishments. I used a glue-gun to stick them on to white card to form a heart. Then, I added two smaller hearts to the picture. I popped it in a frame and gave it to Russ. He was so pleased with his gift he hung it on our landing wall. Diane Godden, Ashford, Kent
Peck to the future
After my husband and I finished a bottle of wine, we decided to turn it into a bird feeder. We filled it with seed then made a frame for it and a perch using wood from an old pallet. We secured the bottle with a cable tie and hung the feeder on the tree. The birds are going to love it!Christine Sharp, Seaton, Cumbria
Oh, cappy day
When the weather had started to turn, the paths around our home became dirty and our pram wheels began to get really muddy. I didn't want my hallway floors getting dirty, and when I looked online any wheel covers were expensive. So I bought four shower caps and used them as wheel covers instead. They were much cheaper and have kept my floors spotless.Sarah Lee, Ripley, Derbys
Let’s stick together
For Valentine's Day, I wanted to make something unusual for my husband Andy. I bought a bag of skewer sticks, his favourite chocolate bars and several chocolate hearts. I glued the bars to the skewers. Then I found a canvas bag with a heart on the outside. I filled the bag with red tissue and arranged the skewered chocs inside. Andy will be thrilled with his special selection. Debb Hunt, Nottingham
Twig or treat
During a winter walk, I collected a huge bag of twigs. Back at home, I had an idea. I glued the twigs together to form a large heart. Once all the glue had dried, I spray-painted my heart white. Then, I hung it on the garage door in my garden — so romantic! Lindsie Muir, Lenzie, E Dune
Crumbs of comfort
I try my best to recycle household items. Whenever I finish a box of cereal, I take out the wax packet and give it a rinse. Once the packet is clean, I give it another lease of life in the kitchen. If I'm making a cheesecake, I put the biscuits inside the packet and use a rolling pin to crush them. Now I can do my bit for the planet — and I have no crumbs to clean up either!
