Bright IDEA
I wanted to get my daughters Imogen-Leigh and Esme June a light box, but they’re so expensive. To save some cash, I had a go at making one. I bought a transparent storage tub and some string lights. I drilled holes into the storage tub, placed the lights inside and threaded them through the holes. Then I added some tracing paper on to the inside of the box and sealed the lid. My children have had endless fun creating beach scenes with tissue paper and shells.

On the FENCE
I was giving my garden fences a fresh coat of paint, but I didn’t want to make a mess on my driveway. I saved a large cardboard box from the recycling, then I flattened it down. I slotted the cardboard underneath the section of the fence I was painting. Once the paint had dried, I moved the cardboard along. It protected my drive perfectly.

All eyes on EWE
I wanted to brighten up my boring mantelpiece. I had some spare white wool, so I made a handful of pom-poms. I used funky foam to make some sheep faces and stuck googly eyes on to them. Then, I glued four black miniature pom-poms on the bottom as feet. Finally, I threaded the sheep on to a metre of white yarn, tied the ends into loops and hung them across my fireplace. It’s brightened up the room and been a talking point among friends.

Ready for BED
Strong winds broke two fence panels in my garden. But instead of throwing them away, I put the wood to good use. I cut them up so I had two short panels and two long ones. Then, I screwed them together to create a trough. I lined it, then filled it with compost and now it’s ready for some lovely flowers.

Got the MEMO
We always recycle our cardboard food packaging. But I decided to reuse some instead. I opened out the boxes and flattened them, then I cut them into strips and used them to jot down my shopping lists. I left a few by the phone too, for any important messages.

Pecking ORDER
Sometimes, I’d forget to top up the bird feeder in my garden. But I had an idea about how to remind myself. I took two empty glass jars I had in the kitchen and filled them both with layers of different bird seeds. Not only do they look nice in my kitchen, they also remind me to top up my feeder so the birds have plenty to eat.
