Kitchen CURE1 of 5

Kitchen CURE

I'd been on the hunt for something to organise my clingfilm and tin foil, but everything I found was too bulky or too expensive. I bought a mesh file holder from the supermarket and screwed it to the inside of a kitchen cupboard. Now I can keep everything neat and tidy. Jenny Smith, Stockton-on-Tees, Co Durham

During the coronavirus lockdown, I took up knitting. I soon realised I had a knack for it, and started making cuddly toys. But the toy stuffing was too expensive. Instead, I found some old cushions and pillows from around the house that weren't fit for purpose, and used the stuffing from inside them. It was much cheaper! Agnes Martin, Broomhill, Glasgow

I didn't need my CD stand any more, but it seemed too nice to throw away. Instead, I decided to turn it into some garden art. I threaded some plastic flowers through the top before adding some real flowers to it too. Not only does it brighten up my garden, but I can add to it at any time. Karen Knight, Enfield, London

Takeaway TWIST

My son Billy loves fast food, but I wanted him to enjoy healthier alternatives too. Before I made him his favourite 'burger', I decided to make some fakeaway packaging. I folded a piece of paper into a bag and drew on a yellow 'B' for Billy to pop his chips into. I also wrapped his fruit snack into some clingfilm to give him the full fakeaway experience. It went down a treat with Billy, and he gobbled up his dinner. Becky Jacobs, Erdington, Birmingham

During the pandemic, my wife Birgitta and I wanted a garden bench to sit on in the sun. When I spotted my neighbours throwing away a double pine bed frame, I asked if I could have it. It took us a few days, but we transformed it into a garden bench, using the headboard as the back and the slats as the seat. Later in the year, we gave the bench to a good friend who needed it more than we did. Glenn Williams, Hull, E Yorks
