DIY blind1 of 6

Blind luck

I wanted a new blind to fit my conservatory window, but they were all too expensive. Instead, I bought a brightly patterned shower curtain, which I hung in the conservatory using curtain hooks. It fitted like a dream, and it was a bargain too. Lyn Fursdon, Holsworthy, Devon

Taking a punt on bunting

My son Reuben, five, didn't want his baby bunting in his bedroom any more. Instead of throwing it away, I decided to use it in my garden. I pinned the bunting to my fence around our garden lights and blue trellises. I'm so pleased with the results! Denise Feltwell, Soham, Cambs

Cat litter tip3 of 6

Cat’ll do nicely

When the scraper for my cat litter tray broke, I couldn't find a decent replacement in any of the local pet stores. As I wandered around the supermarket, I spotted a spatula and bought that as a temporary measure. But back at home, I realised it was much sturdier than any scraper I'd had before. It also has a longer handle, and doesn't scratch the tray. I'll never go back to using a scraper again!Barbara Bates, Bishop Auckland, Co Durham

On a roll

I wanted to tidy up the foil, cling film and baking paper in my cupboards. I stuck six hooks on to the inside of my kitchen cupboard, then cut some leftover wooden trim I had into three lengths. I threaded the rolls of food wrap on to the lengths of wood and hung them from the hooks. Now, they're easy to grab while I cook. Samantha Maxwell, Huntingdon, Cambs

Recycling yoghurt pots5 of 6

It’s a wind up

I had some large yogurt pots that I wanted to upcycle. I found an old ball of unwanted Aran wool and grabbed some PVA glue from the cupboards. I covered the pots with the glue, then carefully wound the wool around them so that it covered them completely. Not only am I pleased with the results, but they were therapeutic to make too! What a Marvel

I was given a second-hand bedside table for my son's room, but it needed sprucing up. I got hold of some superhero wallpaper and covered the cabinet with it using craft glue. Once the glue had dried, I replaced the knobs with matching superhero ones. My son absolutely loved his new piece of furniture.Jessica McFarland, Bedford
