Soap and glory
It's hard to stop those last bits of soap sliding around. So I took this sponge and cut a deep hole into the top, then stuck the soap inside. Now those annoying, thinner slices of soap aren't wasted. Sarah Chadwick, Bath, Somerset
Smoothly does it
We needed to top up the oil in our car one afternoon, but had no funnel. After rummaging through our recycling box, my wife found an empty plastic bottle. I cut it in half and used the top half as a makeshift funnel. It worked so well, I've left it in the garage ready to use again. Russell Griffin, Warmley, Bristol
You’ve got it nailed!
Building flatpack furniture can be a stressful experience, but I've found a way to make things a little easier. Before you begin, split the different fixings into a muffin tray — it stops you losing any and makes the different bits easier and quicker to find. Kirsty McKenna, Coventry, W Mids
A piece of cake
Pouring traybake cake mixture on top of parchment paper is always tricky. But I've found the perfect solution. I secure the paper to the tray with four soft-grip pegs. Once they're in place, it pours in without the paper moving. Now my Mars Bar crispie cakes are perfect every time! Tracey Linsday, Inverness, H'land
Take note
Drilling holes in the wall always leaves such a mess. So when my husband and I had a curtain pole to put up, we decided to find a solution. We folded a post-it note in half and stuck the sticky bit to the wall to form an L-shape. Then when we drilled the hole, the paper caught the dust. Once we'd finished, we peeled the note off the wall and had nothing to tidy. Debbie Macey, Willaston, Cheshire
