When my best friend Sam got married, I wanted to give her a present she would treasure. I gathered together some pebbles and wood from the beach, then arranged them to represent Sam in her white dress, with her new husband and two bridesmaids. I glued the stones and wood on to strong card, using PVA glue. Once that was done, I put the picture in a frame. Sam was thrilled with it. Irene Emerson, Humberston, Lincs

I love collecting pretty shells from the beach, and wanted to display them at home. So when I found a lovely bit of driftwood and some old fishing net, I had an idea. I tied bits of the net around either end of the wood. Next I looped the string around two nails in my wall to make a shelf. Then I put my shells on it. Now I have a lovely, sea-inspired display which brightens up my lounge — and it didn't cost me a penny. Margaret McNulty, Llanfairpwllgwyngyll, Anglesey

I was looking for a nautical tissue box to coordinate with my newly decorated bathroom, but they were all much too expensive. Instead, I decided to make my own. I made a box out of leftover hardwood by gluing the sides together. I cut a hole in the top of the box
and added hinges to make a lid, then covered the box with matching paper, shells and rope. I think it looks great.

I needed a small storage box for my bathroom, and managed to pick one up from a charity shop. But it was very plain, and I wanted it to match my seaside-themed décor. So I stuck some shells on to the box with glue. I'm very happy with my little sea chest — it looks great and was a bargain too! Karen Dirs, Kegworth, Leics

When my daughters and I collected some shells and sea glass on a walk, we thought it would be nice to do something with them. We washed the shells, then used superglue to stick them on to an empty glass jar. Once it was decorated and the glue had dried, I popped an LED candle inside. My daughters love the jar and it's a great reminder of our day out. Gemma Gardner, Whinney Hill, Co Durham
