Celebrity trainer Aimee Long shares her top tips to make wellness a priority

Find your thing

Remember movement is medicine — from a 10-minute walk to a 30-minute work-out, everything counts. Find something you enjoy doing, as the more you enjoy your work-out, the more likely you are to stick to it.

Upgrade your diet

Use the new year to refocus on your nutrition. Upgrade your plate with fresh fruit and veggies, pulses, nuts and wholegrains. Plan your meals for the week ahead, and if you’re time-poor, aim to dedicate some time for batch-cooking.

Set achievable goals

Set realistic and achievable goals and be sure to celebrate the small wins. Aim to build on these goals, or healthy habits, week by week. If you achieve, or even exceed, them your motivation will increase even further.

Stick to a routine

Whether it’s a daily or weekly routine, find one that suits you. Set aside some time, each day or each week, to schedule a work-out, prepare your meals or have some me-time. Remember, you can always adjust this as you go. Building a routine helps to keep you accountable and on track to reach your goals.

Make time for yourself

The key to a healthy lifestyle is balance, so be sure to schedule in some time out for yourself. From a skincare treatment to a walk in the park, give your mind and body time to recharge.
