It’s time to embrace who you are, as you are!
Post some positive affirmations on your mirror
We experience most body-hate in front of mirrors. Try posting positive notes on your mirrors, such as: ‘I am enough’ and ‘You’re beautiful’.
Get rid of your scales
Weighing yourself can become an obsession. The number on the scales doesn’t define you
— don’t let it have power over your happiness or self-worth.
If you wouldn’t say it to your friends, don’t say it to yourself
When you’re critical of your body, ask yourself: ‘Would I say this to a friend?’ The answer is usually: ‘No’. Treat your body like your best friend!
Donate any clothing that doesn’t fit
Instead of torturing ourselves with thoughts that we no longer fit into our favourite
pairs of jeans, donate them! Buy clothes that make you feel great.
Don’t compare yourself with others
Our bodies change significantly as we grow older. Comparing yourself with others, or even yourself, does nothing for you.
Learn to accept a compliment
By not being able to accept a compliment, you’re putting yourself down.
Avoid responding to a compliment with: ‘Thank you, but…’. Instead, show your gratitude by responding with a simple: ‘Thank you’.
Challenge the idea that thin people are happier
Do you know any thin people who are unhappy? Do you know any larger people who are happy? People can be happy or unhappy at any size. Remember, you don’t know what anyone’s been through or is going through.
