For an immune boost:

Try elderberry

Elderberries contain vitamins A and C, anthocyanins and flavonoids, which have been shown to reduce the symptoms and length of a cold.

For better digestion:

Try fennel, lemon balm or ginger

Fennel acts as a diuretic so it can help with water retention and bloating. Try lemon balm for indigestion and acid reflux, or ginger for nausea.

For a pick-me-up:

Try peppermint

Studies found that drinking this boosted alertness, helping to improve both short-term and long-term memory.

For radiant skin:

Try nettle

Keeping well hydrated is good for the complexion. It’s a great ‘nutritional’ herb for the skin with vitamins A and C, iron, calcium and magnesium.

For high blood pressure:

Try green tea

One study found that drinking this might reduce hypertension risk by a whopping 46 per cent.

For good sleep:

Try chamomile

As well as relaxing the nervous system and easing tension, chamomile tea can relieve bloating and indigestion.

For bone health:

Try rooibos

Research has linked regular rooibos intake, and black or green tea, with higher bone mineral density in postmenopausal women.
