He’s her LOBSTER
My boyfriend Daniel put his arm around me as I settled on to the sofa and grabbed the remote.
‘Shall we watch an episode of Friends?’ I said.
‘Oh go on, then,’ he replied, laughing.
Friends had been one of my favourite television shows for as long as I could remember. I grew up watching reruns of it and had all the boxsets.
Daniel and I would watch it as one of our comfort shows, so when he proposed after two years together, I had an idea.

‘How would you feel if we had a Friends theme at the wedding?’ I asked Daniel.
‘That’s a brilliant idea,’ he replied.
Our big day came around two years later and we tied the knot. Then we sat on a sofa with umbrellas and recreated the opening credits for our wedding video!
Our 50 guests all had place names in the Friends font and we had six tables, each named Ross, Rachel, Joey, Chandler, Monica, and Phoebe.

We had He’s my lobster as the cake topper, which is one of our favourite quotes from the show. We even have matching tattoos of it.
Everyone loved it and our friends still talk about The One With the Wedding to this day.

TILE death do us part
I only had one thing on my mind while my boyfriend Peter and I strolled around a car boot sale.
‘I really want to find some Scrabble games,’ I said.
‘I’ll go and have a look for you,’ he replied.
Ever since I was a young girl, I’d absolutely loved Scrabble.
Peter scoured all across the field and eventually, came back clutching one.
And once Peter proposed after five years together, I couldn’t wait to plan our wedding.
One day, I decided to spell out love on the Scrabble board, using my ring and Scrabble tiles, to take a cute photo.

It gave me a brilliant idea.
I looked through charity shops and car boot sales and started crafting.
‘This all looks amazing,’ Peter said, as I created our table centrepieces and place names from Scrabble tiles I had found.
I asked my three best friends to be bridesmaids by spelling out be my bridesmaid on a Scrabble board.
On our wedding day, Peter even had Scrabble tile cufflinks!

‘This is so you, Rachel,’ our guests said, as they admired all the subtle touches throughout.
I’ve kept a lot of decorations from the wedding in a keepsake box. Our big day certainly spelt success!

UP and away
As I unpacked the last box in our new flat, I sighed with relief and said to my boyfriend Gaz, ‘We’ve finally moved in.’
It was our first home together and we settled down for the night, but the only thing we didn’t have sorted was the broadband.
‘Shall we watch a DVD?’ Gaz asked.
The first film in the pile was Disney’s Up and it quickly became our film.

When Gaz proposed to me after five years, I started planning our wedding.
‘What do you think about having a few touches of our favourite film in the wedding?’ I asked Gaz.
‘I love it,’ he replied.
I began making our invites with a house on the front, and beads to represent the balloons.
They took me hours to make but they were worth it!
My sister-in-law made us a gorgeous Up-themed wedding cake.
After we exchanged vows and signed the register, we even had the music from the opening scene of Up playing.

We gave grape soda badges to our 50 guests as wedding favours, and every table had a house-shaped teapot with a bunch of balloons on it as the centrepieces.
Everyone had a wonderful time – we also had casino tables, a fairground horse ride and a photo booth
‘This is such a unique wedding theme – but it’s so you,’ our guests told us.
Now, whenever we watch Up, we can’t help but reminisce over our magical day.

Roll the dice
Chatting over drinks, Kevin told me all about a recent holiday he’d taken to Las Vegas.
‘If things go well with us, I’ll take you one day,’ he said with a wink.
It was only our first date but I was smitten and quickly, we became a couple.
Six months after we got together, Kevin got down on one knee and proposed in front of the fire at home.
Even though he got norovirus that same night, it still was a romantic night to remember.

As we sat down to plan our big day, I couldn’t believe the prices.
‘This all looks so expensive,’ I sighed, then I paused. ‘How about we just go to Vegas?’
‘That’s an amazing idea,’ he replied
We told friends and family, then flew to Las Vegas.
The next day, we went to the chapel with two witnesses – the photographer and the limo driver – and of course we got photos with Elvis afterwards.
Next day, we took a tour of the Grand Canyon and two days later, arrived home to have a party.
‘We have to give everyone a taste of Vegas,’ I said.

We turned up in our wedding outfits, had
a Vegas-themed wedding cake and casino tables throughout.
Kevin and
I have been back to Las Vegas since and will always cherish it as our special place.
